Graphite fibers are manufactured in a variety of stiffness degrees and the engineering meaning for stiffness is modulus. Typically, golf shafts use a 33 MSi (million pounds per square inch) fiber and describe it as high modulus graphite. While this is extremely high stiffness compared to other materials, it is a working standard for graphite fibers. At Grafalloy, fibers up to 100 MSi are commonly used. A 100 MSi fiber is 13 times more stiff than steel. More than 70% of the layup of shafts like the ProLaunch Axis are made from fibers in excess of 50 MSi.

Axis Technology
Axis technology utilizes ultra thin layers of unidirectional graphite in multiple fiber orientations to stabilize the golf shaft. This stabilizes the cross section increasing the efficiency in energy transfer from the golfer to the ball and reduces off-plane bending to keep the club head on line for increased accuracy
